“You had to be there.”

Don’t you just love the moments when an entire room can’t stop laughing? We’re talking deep belly laughs that get louder with each breath. Red faces that have tears streaming down the cheeks. Wheezing coming from someone in the corner. It’s that feeling when your face starts to hurt from the strain of smiling so big and when your lungs burn as you are struggling to breathe. And ultimately it’s the worry that you might have to run to the bathroom for fear of peeing your pants.

These moments will always bring a smile back when they are remembered later. They are only explained with the line, “You had to be there.” They are priceless and they remind me that I’m alive.

  1. Yup! They are the best!! Sometimes we get too busy with life and don’t allow ourselves to have them enough. Laughter is the best medicine! Thanks for the reminder! 🙂

  2. That embarrassed glance out the corner of your eye as you look at your neighbor and realize neither of you can hold in the giggles…yes, I know what you mean! I love that feeling!!! Priceless and fabulous!!

  3. Wow! This is a great topic to write about – the sounds of laughter and how contagious laughter is! I love the ending – and yes, these moments are you-had-to-be-there moments! But you still brought a wide grin and warmed my heart. Thank You!

  4. What a great slice! I was trying to figure out how to get a moment like this into one of my slices last week, and I realized that it wouldn’t be funny to anyone else. Hooray for a you-had-to-be-there moment!
